Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers have turned to Ultimate Software's UltiPro in order to ease its HR and payroll operations.
Ultimate Software is a leading cloud solutions provider for human capital management. According to Eric Hernandez, vice president of finance for the Dodgers, UltiPro has helped simplify the team’s payroll process. That's no easy task, as his department is responsible for reporting team members' earnings in each of the 18 states, 30 cities and numerous taxing districts where they play during the season.
“Prior to UltiPro, when our team visited an unfamiliar jurisdiction, our payroll department was responsible for setting up a tax ID and filing with the right city, state, county or tax authority," Hernandez said. "With UltiPro’s out-of-the-box features for managing compliance, the technology provides guidance on identifying the correct payroll tax rates — and applies any updates — so we no longer need to contract with a third-party tax service.”
In addition, UltiPro has also helped Hernandez in preparing his finance-related tasks, including year-end bonuses. Plus, he said that through UltiPro, he no longer relies on HR or payroll departments in producing reports, because he “can produce the information quickly” via the cloud service.
Hernandez said UltiPro has also improved the seasonal hiring experience for the personnel involved in staffing Dodger Stadium for its over 80 home games each year.
Meanwhile, Ultimate Software’s chief sales officer, mid-market and strategic Chris Phenicie said they “are pleased that UltiPro is making life easier for [Dodgers] employees and the HR/payroll team.”
