Evaluating a company's retention program is a key element of successful HR in today's workforce according to Businessolver, which recently shared three critical offboarding tips in a recent blog.
The leading SaaS-based benefits administration technology company says the offboarding process is critical in a changing workforce. According to Businessolver, an average of 3 million Americans quit their jobs every month, reflecting that Millennials are becoming the largest portion of our workforce.
"Gone are the days when you could expect an employee to earn their 30-year gold watch for continued service and dedication to one company," the blog states.
Still, Businessolver reports only 25 percent of companies have a "formal" offboarding program. The blog states that while turnover is inevitable, having a sound offboarding plan has several advantages.
Businessolver's tips for offboarding plans include making sure that leaving the company is not a negative experience.
"A recent study found that 25 percent look to social media and 73 percent took negative remarks into consideration before making a decision to join a company," the blog said. "On the other hand, a glowing recommendation from a former employee who had a red carpet offboarding experience… that’s as good as it gets."
Finally, Businessolver suggests to "keep your door open" for those employees who might come back and to consider inviting previous employees to networking and happy hour events.
"According to a recent study, 46 percent of Millennials would consider boomeranging back to their previous employer," the blog said.
