The City of Durham, North Carolina seeks a full-time employee relations specialist.
Duties of the position include designing and delivering employee relations-related training, ensuring the implementation of adverse job actions, developing tracking tools to identify employee relations trends, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures, and conducting investigations of employee relations issues.
Prospective candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR, industrial or labor relations, public administration or related disciplines; four years HR administration or coordination experience with at least three years in employee relations; and a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Preferred qualifications include strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, decision-making, relationship management, problem-solving skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; mediation and/or investigation certification; the ability to handle confidential information; and strong knowledge of relevant regional and national employment laws.
