Outgoing Ameris Bank CEO Edwin Hortman Jr., who will continue as CEO for parent company Ameris Bancorp, recently cited “impressive” incoming managerial skills among a set of newly appointed leaders for the financial company.
As of Jan. 1, Dennis Zember Jr. will succeed Hortman as Ameris Bank CEO, while also continuing in the capacity of executive vice president and chief operating officer of Ameris Bancorp. Zember has held numerous executive positions with both companies.
Also on that date, Nicole Stokes will become executive vice president and chief financial officer of both Ameris Bancorp and Ameris Bank. Stokes originally served as controller for Ameris Bancorp when she joined the firm in 2010; since June 2016 she has been senior vice president and CFO for Ameris Bank.
"We have impressive talent on our team, and I am proud that we are in a position to promote from within our own Company,” Hortman sad. “Both Dennis and Nicole have exhibited the kind of leadership we value at Ameris and that produces exceptional results. Along with our board of directors, I extend congratulations to Dennis and Nicole."
Additionally, Daniel Jeter will take on the responsibility of lead independent director, appointed by the Ameris Bancorp board of directors. Jeter has been chairman of the board for over 10 years.
