CITGO's Board of Directors has named Asdrubal Chavez the new acting President and CEO of CITGO Petroleum Corp.
Chavez has more than 30 years of industry expertise, coming from Universidad de los Andes in 1979. He worked in the industrial services, distillation and specialties, conversion and treatment, as well as crude and products movement, programming and economics and process engineering when he was employed by El Palito Refinery in Carabobo, Venezuela.
Chavez was named the manager of human resources for Bitumenes Orinoco S.A. in 2001. In addition to a number of other leadership positions, Chavez was named minister of the Popular Power of Petroleum and Mining, which was a position in leadership over all oil activity in the country of Venezuela.
Chavez's experience in the treatment of the oil industry makes him the natural fit for CITGO.
