The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a human resources benefits assistant and human resources benefits specialist.
Duties of the HR assistant include supporting leaves of absences, assisting with annual open enrollments, supporting the worker’s compensation plan, and assisting with benefit reconciliations and research discrepancies.
Duties of the HR specialist include administering leaves of absence, administering the worker’s compensation plan, reviewing monthly compensatory time reports, performing benefit reconciliations, and assisting with the correction of health insurance rates.
Prospective candidates for the HR assistant position must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; strong organization and time management skills; experience with Microsoft Office and an automated HRIS/payroll system; and basic knowledge of HR, business or a related field, as well as knowledge of state and federal HR regulations, workers’ compensation, and disability and return to work programs.
Preferred qualifications for the HR assistant position include a bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience; HR experience in a higher education setting; experience working with retirement benefit programs and plans; presentation skills; and knowledge of benefit programs and Banner or similar Oracle based ERP system.
Prospective candidates for the HR specialist position must possess a bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience; strong presentation skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office; skills using an automated HRIS/payroll system; and knowledge of state and federal HR regulations, benefit programs, workers’ compensation, and disability and return to work programs.
Preferred qualifications for the HR specialist position include HR experience in a higher education setting; experience administering a full benefits package, presenting trainings on benefit topics and using HRIS systems; knowledge of retirement plans, Banner or similar Oracle based ERP system, and Commonwealth of Virginia policies and procedures.
