Netflix has tapped company veteran Jessica Neal for its chief talent officer position to lead Netflix’s human resources, culture, recruiting and coaching teams.
Netflix recently announced the appointment of Neal, who began her career with the company 11 years ago at the height of popularity for DVDs and before the launching of streaming. Neal, who most recently oversaw Netflix’s human resources department for its 2,000-person engineering team, is credited with improving the Netflix culture along with the company’s growth.
In 2013, Neal returned to Netflix after serving as head of human resources for Coursera, a company that provides online access to some of the world’s best university courses. Prior to her return to Netflix, Neal also served as chief people officer at Scopely, a major company in the mobile gaming industry.
In addition to serving as Netflix chief talent officer, Neal also serves on the board of directors for the Association for Talent Development.
Netflix, which is known as the world’s leading internet entertainment service, has over 109 million members in 190 countries. According to the company, it provides members with over 125 million hours each day of TV shows and movies, including original series, documentaries and feature films.
