A benefits administration technology company is expanding in Denver more rapidly than it expected, increasing its workforce more than 400 percent since it entered the city three years ago.
Businesssolver, which builds and delivers technology for employers and employees, said its Denver office has grown from being a sales base to offering a range of services. The Denver team has grown from 30 to more than 160 employees, a 433 percent increase, and Gov. John Hickenlooper recognized Businessolver as one of the fastest-growing companies in the state.
"Denver has a reputation as a center of innovation that fosters growth and attracts top talent," Jon Shanahan, Businesssolver's CEO, told HR Daily Wire. "We first opened our Denver office in 2014 with a focus on sales, but it has since grown to a regional hub that also focuses on product and technology development, participant services, client success and operations, and marketing and communications. That evolution is due in large part to our incredible local leadership and team, and the innovative spirit of the Denver community, both of which have allowed us to thrive."
Shanahan also has his eye on using Denver as a door to the Far West.
"As we continue to grow, Denver will continue to serve as a hub of leadership and innovation for our organization, and will allow us to be even closer to our growing roster of West Coast clients."
Businesssolver, founded in 1998 by a group of HR professionals, aims to deliver "market-changing benefits administration technology supported by an intrinsic responsiveness to client needs," the company said in a press release. "It creates client programs that maximize benefit program investment, minimize risk exposure, and engage employees with easy-to-use solutions and communication tools to assist them in making wise and cost-efficient benefit selections."
When it opened in 2014, the original focus of the Denver office was sales. It has expanded to include client services and product and technology innovation.
As in Businessolver’s other offices, Denver employees work in an open office space. This drives collaboration.
The Denver team is also involved in philanthropy, including supporting organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House and raising more than $10,000 participating in the Courage Classic, a two-day mountain-bike race benefiting Children’s Hospital Colorado.
“In the three years since we opened the Denver office, we’ve expanded our Solver family with incredible talent, grown our business by continuing to deliver delight to our clients, and shown our commitment to the community by getting involved and giving back,” Josh Holman, vice president of client engagement at Businessolver and founder of the Denver hub, said. “As a Denver native, I’m humbled that an organization I’ve dedicated my career to can make such an indelible impact on my hometown.”
Businessolver plans to expand the Denver office, and double the size of the local team. It is on track to have more than 200 Denver-based employees in 2018.
