Digital education provider 2U Inc. of Maryland has named Rani Hammond as its first chief people officer to manage global HR needs, talent management and recruiting as of Oct. 9.
Calling people “the engine that powers our success at 2U,” company co-founder and CEO Christopher "Chip" Paucek noted that Hammond’s approach will fulfill 2U’s needs for fast growth and an international perspective.
"As we scale our business globally, it was important to find a leader like Rani who has passion for what we do and the experience to drive our people strategy,” Paucek said.
Hammond brings over two decades of HR management and leadership. She acted as chief HR officer at David’s Bridal, overseeing the firm’s 14,000 employees and upgrading the company’s method of recruitment and retention. Additionally, Hammond served as vice president for various departments of Hilton Worldwide, following HR roles in diverse fields.
"I come from a long line of educators," Hammond said. “I passionately believe that education has the power to transform lives, society and the world. I'm thrilled to join 2U and contribute to the professional growth of the people who are leading such an innovative, market-leading approach to education accessibility."
