Fortune 300 company Republic Services, a recycling industry leader committed to sustainability, has an opening for an HR specialist to work closely with leadership at its Phoenix office, supporting employee engagement and process improvement.
The specialist will perform company-wide and administrative tasks as well as provide corporate process support. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in HR management or related field (such as business, psychology, organizational behavior or communication); two to three years of relevant experience; familiarity with employment law and/or HR policies, and PHR/SHRM-CP certification.
The position requires fluency in Microsoft Office programs (including Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint) and the capacity to handle HR information confidentially and professionally.
Work style should include well-developed prioritization, organizational and multitasking abilities; attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Problem solving, collaboration and demonstration of independently motivated initiative are also expected.
In addition to regular HR duties, the successful candidate will organize summer internships and plan special events. He or she will be responsible for employee records, status changes, and accommodations; background checks and dispute resolution; policy, audits and special projects.
The specialist will also partner with talent acquisition personnel for recruitment and training; handle orientation, onboarding, and temporary staffing. Republic Services is an equal opportunity employer.
