Genesis HR Solutions has been designated as a Certified Professional Employer Organization (CPEO) by the Internal Revenue Service.
Already the largest accredited Professional Employer Organization, Genesis HR Solutions, which is headquartered in New England was notified of the IRS certification on June 1, which retroactively took effect January 1, 2017.
CPEOs are part of an IRS program instituted by the Small Business Efficiency Act (SBEA) in 2014. Designated CPEOs must submit ongoing audits and bonding requirements to the revenue service and are solely liable for their client’s federal payroll taxes. CPEOs are successor employers, eliminating double taxation of the FICA and FUTA taxes for their business partners.
Furthermore, businesses that enter into a relationship with the CPEO are entitled to certain federal tax cuts.
"This designation is an important milestone for Genesis, the PEO industry and more importantly for our client business partners," Genesis CEO Robert Burbidge said in a statement. "The PEO industry has been an important business service for the small business community for more than 30 years and passage of the SBEA is very significant."
Genesis HR Solutions has been in business since 1991 and serves businesses with 20 to 200 employees providing human resources, cost control, and growth assistance. Genesis provides services to clients across the nation, in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
