Astellas recently received honors from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) when it received the 2017 When Works Works award.
Astellas, a pharmaceutical company based in Northbrook, Illinois, received the designation following SHRM’s assessment of the company work environment that included many factors.
The award recognizes businesses with positive employee and employer outcomes and looks at factors including autonomy, work/life balance, supervisor support and earnings. Additionally positive corporate culture factors such as fostering a culture of trust play into the award.
The two-step selection process for the When Work Works award includes an evaluation of employer program and practices as well as a confidential employee survey.
"As a company, we're guided by our unique culture every day," Collette Taylor, senior vice president of Human Resources and Facilities, said in a company statement. "We care for our own people, and that care is ultimately reflected in our commitment to the thousands of people around the world who rely on our medicines."
SHRM, the world’s largest professional HR society, has almost 300,000 members in 165 countries.
