In the heart of downtown Chicago, Marriott International Inc. seeks an HR generalist with innate curiosity and a passion for discovery to join its team at the Renaissance Chicago’s 1 W. Wacker Drive location.
The successful candidate for this full-time, non-supervisory position will assist management and leadership personnel in resolution of HR matters: processing transfers, screening and hiring; performing reference and background checks; and overseeing employee orientation.
The HR generalist will scrutinize all recruitment and hiring processes to ensure compliance with laws at the federal, state and local levels; maintain employee records, and apprise HR management of specific issues as needed. Administrative duties comprise receiving phone calls and conveying messages; and writing and inputting internal correspondence.
This position also requires the ability to act as a resource on Human Resources-related subject matter, serve on teams for specific projects, and cultivate cordial working relationships with colleagues. The generalist will be expected to model and encourage appropriate attire and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Basic proficiency with computer skills, communications skills, and interpersonal skills are intrinsic to performing the duties of this position. Additionally, the qualified candidate will be able to physically lift, carry and otherwise handle up to 10 pounds of material within the office setting; finally, he or she will train all new hires on Human Resources programs and policies.
