The Village of Schaumburg, Illinois is recruiting qualified applicants for a part-time administrative secretary to work weekday afternoons under the supervision of its HR director to support clerical tasks and assist in projects as needed.
Requiring fewer than 20 hours weekly, the job generally calls for working 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday; no benefits are included. The secretary will maintain personnel, medical and other files in the village’s system; keep files organized, manage transfer and maintenance of folders, and abide by state standards for document disposal.
The successful candidate will be responsible for greeting customers, receiving and dispatching calls, and answering inquiries as appropriate; preparing reports and correspondence; and overseeing requisition and expenditures. The secretary will take meeting minutes, make copies, assist with employee recognition and make website HR updates.
The secretary will be capable of juggling several tasks and remain focused; performing computer work and sitting or standing for extended periods of time. He/she must have a high school diploma or its equivalent; five years or more of office experience with demonstrated administrative responsibility. Proficiency with standard software systems is preferable, as is working knowledge of office procedures, writing and organizational skills.
