The City of Lakeland, Florida is seeking a full-time human resources specialist in policy and employee/labor relations, a position that offers an annual salary range of $52,915 to $82,097.
The advanced position entails responsibility over the city’s human resources policy and employee/labor relations division, including duties like handling employee complaints, performing investigations and compiling reports and assisting the city’s management team in addressing grievances. The successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing strategies and training related to employee/labor relations and preparing for negotiations, arbitration and civil service hearings. He or she might also be called upon to provide assistance in other difficult human resources administration tasks.
Applicants for this position should have a bachelor’s degree with major course work in human resources or a related field like public administration or business administration. Additionally, they should have at least eight years of progressive experience in the field, including two years of experience in conducting investigations and employee relations activities and four years working with union grievances, arbitration and/or negotiations.
