The City of Royal Oak, Michigan, is seeking a full-time human resources specialist, inviting those with a four-year degree and significant experience in the field to apply for the position.
Royal Oak, on the outskirts of Detroit, boasts a small-town feel with the cultural benefits of a large city, featuring both tree-lined residential streets and a bustling downtown.
The city is seeking a human resources specialist to join its human resources department, which is responsible for bringing on new hires and managing the compensation and benefit plans of existing employees, as well as ensuring all operations are in line with federal, state and local regulations both for general employers and for municipalities.
The successful applicant would be responsible for assisting in the city’s professional personnel system with functions including recruitment, examination, classification, compensation, evaluation and promotion of employees. The human resources specialist would also be responsible for reviewing existing agreements and systems and making recommendations to ensure operations are as efficient as possible.
Applicants must be able to pass a background check as the position would require them to be able to access the Michigan criminal history background search system.
Those interested in the position should request an application packet in person at the Royal Oak City Hall or on the city’s website.
