Businessolver Inc.'s Angel Hower, who was the company's product lead for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), has been named to the Internal Revenue Service Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP).
This federal advisory committee provides taxpayer perspective to the IRS.
Hower, a human resources compliance expert, was tapped to represent Iowa taxpayers. She will serve a three-year appointment as a two-way channel between the IRS and the state's taxpayers. She will be the only Iowa representative on the panel.
As part of her volunteer position, Hower will work with approximately 75 committed U.S. volunteers to improve IRS efficiency, procedures and taxpayer services. She will also work with IRS staff to resolve problems and implement solutions.
Hower will donate up to 300 hours each year to a program committee focused on making the public aware of TAP and collecting public comments on how to improve the IRS. Her experience as an HR and ACA expert will provide valuable insight to TAP.
The relationship between the IRS, businesses and taxpayers may be confusing to non-HR professionals. Although President Donald Trump has issued and executive order on the ACA, the laws that regulate health care remain unchanged. Reporting mandates are still in place and must be followed.
“The law is still the law until it is not," Hower recently wrote in the Businessolver blog.
