Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a benefits specialist with a minimum of three years’ professional experience in the field.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in benefits plan design, administering benefit programs and conducting training. The position also entails working with benefits team and staff to ensure that they understand the plans and any necessary notifications, including maintaining the company’s intranet to ensure it contains up-to-date information.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources or an equivalent history of education, training and experience. Additionally, applicants should have three years of experience with benefit plan administration, leave of absence and disability accommodation administration. Applicants must also be familiar with relevant laws and regulations, including HIPAA, COBRA, Family and Medical Leave Act and the Oregon Family Leave Act, among others. Candidates with professional certifications, experience with Oracle Advanced Benefit software and a background in health care are preferred.
Applicants should be comfortable working at a computer for long periods of time and in an environment with moderate noise and pets. Due to project timelines, the volume of work and deadlines, the position may require more than 40 hours of work per week.
