Florida’s Syniverse, a worldwide transaction processor that serves clients in over 200 nations, recently welcomed Norris Powell as its new chief human resources officer to oversee the firm’s 2,300 employees from its hub in Tampa.
“I’m thrilled to join Syniverse at an exciting time for the future of wireless connectivity, and I look forward to supporting the company’s world-class talent on a global basis,” said Powell, who is an alumnus of De Montfort University in Leicester, England.
Powell's appointment followed the retirement of the firm’s previous HR chief officer Leigh Hennen. Powell earlier served in the same capacity for B/E Aerospace Inc. in Wellington, Florida and as vice president of human resources for CSM Bakery Solutions of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
“We are pleased to welcome Norris to the Syniverse team, as his more than 20 years of global human resources experience will help to propel the success of our employees and customers,” Syniverse President and CEO Steve Gray said.
Gray acknowledged the value of outgoing executive Leigh, noting the company’s substantial growth under her decade-long watch.
“[We] grew from about 700 employees primarily residing in the U.S. to a global team of over 2,300 employees in 30 countries,” he said.
Syniverse delivers services to over 1,500 mobile operators, businesses, ISPs and over-the- top content firms internationally.
