Valvoline taps Patrick to head HR and communications

Valvoline Inc. has named 30-year human resources professional Brad Patrick as its chief people and communications officer. 

Patrick, who will begin his new post this month, will be based out of Valvoline’s headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, and will head all aspects of human resources including talent development management, compensation and benefits as well as labor and employee relations. In addition, he will oversee corporate communications for Valvoline. 

“Brad is a seasoned executive with a proven track record helping growth-oriented global organizations and their people, succeed,” Valvoline CEO Sam Mitchell said in a press release. “We are extremely pleased to welcome him to Valvoline’s leadership team.”

Patrick previously served as chief human resources officer at Tempur Sealy International and Shearer’s Snacks. He has also served in senior leadership roles at the Sara Lee Corp., The Gillette Co. (Procter & Gamble Co.), Delta Air Lines, and Frito-Lay. 

Patrick is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also serves on the MBA advisory board of the Gatton College of Business and Economics. 

Valvoline is a worldwide producer and distributor of automotive, commercial and industrial lubricants and automotive chemicals and ranks as the number two quick-lube chain by number of stores.  The company also ranks number three in passenger car motor oil brand in the DIY market by volume in the U.S.
