Thomas Tran has been named chief financial officer and treasurer for Molina HealthCare, a Southern California-based Fortune 500 company that provides health care services under Medicaid, Medicare and state insurance marketplaces.

“Tom is an industry leader with a proven track record of generating shareholder value,” President and CEO Joe Zubretsky said. “His financial acumen and experience in successfully turning around and growing managed care businesses make him an invaluable addition to our executive leadership team. With Tom’s financial leadership, I am very confident in the continued execution of our margin recovery and sustainability plan.”

Tran, who replaces the retiring Joseph White, will oversee the company’s finance and accounting roles.

His 35 years of experience in health care finance includes six years as CFO of WellCare Health Plans, where he helped guide a performance turnaround of the company that generated $14 billion in revenue. In addition to his most recent tenure at Sentry Data Systems, Tran has held leadership roles at CareGuide, Uniprise, ConnectiCare, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Cigna.

Tran holds a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University.
