Third Rock Ventures appoints Sarah Larson partner, chief HR officer

Sarah Larson has been named partner and chief human resources officer at health care venture firm Third Rock Ventures, LLC.

“At Third Rock, we believe that people are our greatest asset and our differentiated model is focused on a hands-on, team-oriented approach with an emphasis on developing the best teams and cultures in the industry,” Third Rock Ventures Partner Alexis Borisy said. “Sarah’s experience, capabilities and philosophy are clearly aligned with this approach. We believe her commitment to aligning human resources with business objectives will be tremendously valuable as we continue to discover, launch and build great companies that make a difference for the patients we serve.”

Larson has more than two decades of HR and leadership experience. She most recently was senior VP of human resources at Foundation Medicine. Her previous roles have included leading the global HR function at drug developer CombinatoRx and serving as a recruiter at Cambridge Search.

“I am motivated by working with people who are passionate about what they do and are truly dedicated to making a difference,” Larson said. “It has always been apparent to me that Third Rock is such a group and I am delighted to be joining the team.”
