The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has announced the winners of the 2017 When Work Works Award.

There were nearly 300 award winners, including some companies with 100 percent virtual workplaces, as well as companies with holistic or family-first approaches to work. These industry leaders and their methods provide insight and define the latest emerging trends in workplace management.

Based on a survey of employees, as well as other deciding factors, the awards go beyond work-life programs and include programs that favor autonomy, supervisor support for job success, and satisfaction with earnings and benefits. The program also recognizes workplaces that excel in opportunities for continuing education and those that build cultures of responsibility, trust, and team atmospheres.

In total, 298 workplaces were recognized across 44 states and Washington, D.C. The top 15 winning worksites are those companies that are “changing the norms of work and the workplace by restructuring how, when and where work gets done in ways that work for employees while also achieving and improving organizational success,” Cassidy Solis, senior adviser for workplace flexibility at SHRM, said in a statement released.
