QBE North America, part of QBE Insurance Group Ltd., has been recognized for its innovative approach to the workplace with the 2017 When Work Works Award from the Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.

There are several policies and programs that make life as an employee for QBE better than that for employees in other business settings; among them is a corporate culture that supports a work/life balance.

“QBE believes that incorporating these integrated workplace strategies makes our company stronger by supporting our employees to meet their professional and personal demands,” Russ Johnston, QBE North America Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement released by the company. “These resources and solutions are available if and when our employees need them, to help navigate the events, challenges and joys they may experience in and outside of work. We’re proud to be recognized by the Families and Work Institute and SHRM for these efforts.”

Employees at QBE have access to programs such as compressed work weeks, flextime and virtual workdays along with flexible parental leaves. Mother’s milk shipping and back-up child care, elder care and pet care as well as housekeeping services are also a primary part of the company’s commitment to a healthy work and home life for its employees.

The company also offers special needs assistance to find solutions for exceptional kids and education advice to assist parents and a family adoption financial support.
