Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. recently confirmed C. Andrew (Andy) Smith as its new chief financial officer from its base in Houston, welcoming the experienced financial industry executive with a background in the oil industry.

“We are pleased to welcome Andy Smith to Patterson-UTI Energy,” Patterson-UTI Energy CEO Andy Hendricks said.  “His extensive experience with accounting and finance in oilfield and heavy industry, along with his dynamic leadership style, will be a great complement to our executive and finance teams.”

Smith previously acted as executive vice president and CFO for Kirby Corp. of Houston, as well as handling financial leadership for Natco Group, Global Industries and Benthic Geotech.

Having earned a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Houston, Smith is a Certified Public Accountant practicing in Texas.

Patterson-UTI owns and manages one of the nation’s largest fleets of land drilling rigs as well as pumping equipment. The company contracts drilling operations in the continental United States and western Canada. Its pressure pumping and oil field tool rental operations mainly function in Texas, midland U.S. regions and Appalachia.
