Douglas Elliman Real Estate has appointed its chief operating officer to head the brokerage and its operations and growth efforts across the U.S.

Scott Durkin joined Douglas Elliman Real Estate in 2015. He has been promoted to the president and chief operating officer of the company, effective immediately.

Durkin helped to partner with StreetEasy and Zillow to develop an exclusive listing entry platform and also helped to oversee Douglas Elliman’s expansion in New York, Florida, California and Massachusetts.

“In the past year as COO of Douglas Elliman, Scott has successfully led several major initiatives to strengthen our brand, our culture and the ways in which our most valued assets, our agents, do business,” Douglas Elliman Realty Chairman Howard Lorber said in a press release. “From forward-thinking partnerships with StreetEasy to another record-breaking year of sales, Scott has proven himself to be a highly valued and respected leader. I am thrilled to make this announcement.”

Durkin began his real estate career with Corcoran Group in 1991, where he served as a sales agent. He also served as senior managing director of the company’s Chelsea-Flatiron office.

Douglas Elliman Real Estate is the largest brokerage in the New York Metropolitan area and the nation’s fourth-largest residential real estate company.
