CPS HR Consulting — a California-based, self-supporting public agency — recently delivered thousands more books than expected through its 12th annual book drive to benefit the River Oak Center for Children.

CPS had the help of a half-dozen Sacramento-area sponsors.

This year, the firm exceeded its goal of 3,000 books by amassing 5,131. Supporting companies and organizations included Ultimate Staffing, Harry Dewey Fundamental Elementary School, Chipotle at 1729 Howe Ave., JC Paper, M/C/C and the Sacramento River Cats.

River Oak Center for Children, also in Sacramento, assists children and youth enduring behavioral health challenges through community based programs.

“We would like to thank everyone who participated,” CPS CEO Jerry Greenwell said. “It is an amazing feeling knowing we are making a positive influence on thousands of children. Giving a book to a child not only impacts their minds today, but gives them a chance at a brighter future tomorrow.”

Company representatives indicated that over the past decade, CPS has donated 35,811 volumes to various recipients. In its first year alone, the firm collected over 1,450; soon after, it began selecting different nonprofits to benefit from the drive each year.

CPS HR Consulting caters to government agencies and nonprofits nationwide, consulting in organizational strategy, recruitment, classification and compensation, and training and development.
