Stressing “duty of care,” Connecticut-based corporate relocation specialist firm Cartus recently suggested a set of general guidelines for keeping workforce personnel safe and secure, especially when global travel or relocation enters the employment picture.

“In today’s increasingly volatile world, this part of risk management has become crucial, with terror attacks, civil uprising, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions all having taken place in recent years and posing a risk to employees,” Cartus’ client services manager Daniel McInnes said in a recent blog.

McInnes presented the key components of his company’s recently published “Duty of Care Mobility Insights,” outlining basic steps that companies can compare to their practices in order to implement improvements. Central concepts include best practice recommendations for visa and immigration compliance; protection of personal data during a physical move; understanding the distinction between perceived and actual risk; and steps recommended for advance emergency readiness in the case of any crises.

Based in Danbury, Connecticut with offices worldwide, Cartus provides relocation support, global compensation services, cultural and language training and consulting.
