S.S. Nesbitt & Co. has named Paul Barber president.

Barber has worked in numerous leadership positions over the past 25 years, including McGriff, Seibels & Williams Inc. Prior to coming to S.S. Nesbitt, Barber was the senior vice president of branch operations with McGriff where he helped over 200 insurance providers to create almost $100 million in revenue.

“Our vision is to be the best privately-owned insurance agency in the Southeast, and Paul Barber is the perfect executive to lead our agency forward,” Bryson Stephens, chairman of the board with EBSCO Industries, said.

Barber has worked with young business leaders at The Center of Executive Leadership as a mentor and intends to continue in this involvement, helping them to grow spiritually, as leaders and to grow in their character.

“Paul Barber’s reputation in our industry is exceptional, and it is an honor to partner with both him and EBSCO as we grow the footprint of our agency,” said Cooper Johnson, who has been positioned as benefits practice leader with S.S. Nesbitt.

Barber commented on his appointment with optimism for the company’s future.

“By working as a team, we’re going to win as a team — for our clients, our strategic partners and our agency,” he said.
