It’s inevitable that as Artificial Intelligence (AI) progresses, employees will rely more and more on the technology.

Beyond manufacturing and assembly type positions, AI is being used in human resources. A recent survey of HR professionals says the technology use will only become more widespread in coming years.

The study conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of CareerBuilder included input from HR managers across multiple industries. The results of the study reveal that 13 percent of HR managers are already seeing evidence of AI in the workplace, but over half (55 percent) expect it to become a regular part of the workplace in the next five years.

There’s also some concern in the industry, with 35 percent of HR managers saying the use of AI in the workplace makes them nervous. Industry leaders are, for the most part, certain that AI can’t replace HR completely; only 7 percent think a robot could do their job.

There also are some positive aspects to the use of AI in the HR environment. On average, HR managers say at least 14 hours a week are wasted on manually completing tasks that could be automated.

Tasks that could be potentially automated, and are in some workplaces include things like payroll and drug testing, applicant tracking and posting jobs to various hiring websites. With automation in those areas, some HR managers believe they would have more time to plan for the future and help company leaders and employees thrive.
