Outdoor lifestyle retailer Academy Ltd. (Academy Sports + Outdoors) recently named Michael Mullican as chief financial officer after he served in that capacity on an interim basis for the past several months.
Initially joining the Katy, Texas-based company as executive vice president and general counsel, Mullican handled legal, risk and compliance issues. Going forward as CFO, he will direct auditing, treasury, tax, accounting and payroll functions.
“I am thrilled to continue my career at Academy Sports + Outdoors,” Mullican said. “I look forward to leading a strong and talented finance team that has the Company well-positioned to continue on its trajectory of improved business results.”
Mullican earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from North Carolina State University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. Before joining the company he provided leadership at Aureus Health Services/Meijer, Family Dollar Stores, and Horizon Lines.
